I love the bit where Sam Woodyard is playing brushes, then suddenly has sticks in his hands, then instantly has brushes again... Almost like slight of hand , it was that quick

I am so glad my father 'made' me listen to the Duke. I truly loved it then and now.

The Duke, at his Coolest......which is like saying "The Ocean, at its Wettest."With the hard-swinging precision of this performance, to say nothing of the shared virtuosity of Ellington and Aaron Bell (bass), what are also really worthy of note, because of their absence? The band fronts: There aren't any.Band fronts hold the parts for each band-member to read......and this aggregation of stunning talents is playing this arrangement, this tightly... ...from MEMORY.

No silly children's songs when I grew up. My mom made sure her young tot swung his diapers off to songs like this. Happy Mother's Day, mom. Miss you, and thanks!
