"Huilerig En Bang" is the 3rd Music Video from DUIMPIE SE MAAT, released on the 16th of April 2013.
Directing & Editing - Rudi Louw
Visual FX Animator / Technical Director - Piet Bez
Green screen painter / Ram / Jack-of-all-trades - Alberto Liebenberg
Production Company - Tank Films
The Concept of the video revolves around the three girls, Duimpie Se Maat, Tweede Beste and Jammer Pappa, setting out on a big party night - they all have a sweet tooth and being unable to control their cravings, they indulge in all the candy they can eat. This sends them on a sugar high of note and has them partying like its 1999.
The video was shot entirely on green screen, which made preproduction easier. All it required was for the studio walls to be painted green and some props to be sourced. The post production however was a more laborious task as all the background locations and scenes had to be rendered digitally on hardware, not entirely up to the scale of the task. Skill and lateral thinking had to make up for these shortcomings, but no challenge is too big for the talented crew at Tank Films.
The making of the video, due to the extreme winter weather, was also a challenge. Dressed in jackets, jerseys and beanies while shooting outside in the freezing cold, was difficult for the crew. Jammer Pappa, Tweede Beste and Duimpie Se Maat however, had to brave the elements and suck in those goose bumps , wearing nothing but lingerie at 3am in the morning. To keep the girls spirits up, Director Rudi Louw from Tank Films, comments "My motivational speech to the girls was 'NO PAIN NO GAIN'." The end result is a sexy video worth the pain and set to gain quite a few extra fans!
"It was truly a great adventure making the video. Working in a forest with a crew of 3 including the band was challenging at times but we are very happy with the end result. Like always DSM likes pushing the boundaries, so get ready for another provocative one. Fans can look forward to seeing us girls getting high on sugar. I think the lyrics says it all." exclaims front lady, Duimpie Se Maat.
