The Allman Bros. live in Tampa, FL in 1970. Duane Allman had no choice but to sing lead vocals since Gregg Allman couldn't make it (he was out sick, I believe).

youranusjonesjr recorded a version of this that sounded terrible, quality-wise. In his video, you can hardly hear Duane's vocals at all. So, I downloaded the exact same performance from http://tela.sugarmegs.org, and restrored the recording by using some of the software I downloaded for my laptop, including Audacity, MP3QualityModifier, & SuperUtils Audio Speed Changer Pro. Now, it sounds as good as it's probably ever gonna get.

"Dimples" is the one song we all know he did, and the vocals aren't bad, but it's a pretty easy song to sing.....

His vocal sounds a little like Hendrix stylistically. He even gets tangled in feedback the way Jimi did sometimes. Genius.

you better believe it. ;) i downloaded it from sugarmegs, and it says gregg was abscent, so duane had no choice but to sing. but this isn't the only known recording of his vocals. he also sang on happily married man, no money down, dimples, & steal away, which were all recorded a few DAYS before forming the allman bros. band. at this time, duane originally intended to record these 4 songs, an instrumental version of down along the cov", & a few others for a debut solo album. but he didn't.
