I think you've missed the whole point of genres. It's not there to make something seem unique or different, it's there to find more bands with a similar sound or vibe, and even to organize your music for quick access. Especially when you've got a decent amount of music with a bit of variety. Kind of nice being able to sort out sub genres to find what you're looking for really easy isn't it?
