The lyrics are only strange, if you do not have a sense of humor. It is a stab at all the corny ballads we have had to endure through the years...especially the 80's. It is meant to be funny. That's why the name of the song is 'The Ballad'. Snowy Shaw, former drummer and guitar, wrote the Magnum Opus 'The Book of Heavy Metal', and is still affiliated with the band, hence the line about him. Its called humor people!!12 years ago
