i love this album, it uses the "Nuclear winter post apocalyptic theme" as a hidden metaphor for greater meaning in the album. this song is about fighting for hope of mankind surviving in the wasteland but the more hidden meaning is like you said Acts of heroism keeping each day peaceful.
