when i heard 2001 i had just gotten out of a nearly all-white grade school and i was still the stereotypical goody-goody white kid thinking rap was "just black people saying 'the n word' over and over!"...it seriously opened my mind and hearing hittman fucking blew me away. at the time i couldn't possibly imagine how you could write something with such rhythmic complexity and remember it. I agree, and I love what's the difference, but I only have to hear a Dre tune three times to have listened the shit out of it - not exactly on the John Scofield level of analysis, you feel me?
