I consider myself lucky to have grown up in the era I did (late 80's and early 90's), and that Downcast was my local hardcore band. I remember when each release came out...demo tape in Spring 1990; 7 inch I think Winter 1990; LP Summer 1991. I must have seen them play 20 times over the 3 years they existed. Those old Red Barn shows in Isla Vista, CA are now legendary in my mind. Ahh...to be 18 again. @Brian Melville: I don't believe they ever recorded "Sandpaper", but I remember it live.

@lahirijl Sadly, I was living out on the East Coast when this band was around, so I never got to see them play live, but they were one of the best hardcore bands of the time. Their lyrics, the music, the vocals - totally intense and perfect. Ebullition was a great label too. The "Revolving and Loading" 7" by Admiral is still one of my favorites over 20 years after first hearing it. Downcast was AMAZING.
