Here are two of what I think are the best of Dorsey's recordings. But they seem to have been forgotten by the rest of the world. They came out in 1960 never charted and wasn't deemed good enough to ever be on an LP or CD.

"The River And The Mountain" followed by "This Hotel".

@copperjones1915 This I think was Dorsey's best, and it was quickly forgotten. It was never even put on a LP or CD. In the mid sixties Dorsey went strictly country and as far as I'm concerned never again made a decent recording. He last that special quality in his voice.

I was at Ft Knox Ky just went back in the army after a year out. They played this song on the radio a lot. I went out and found it in a local record store. After leaving that area I never heard this song again. ERA Records never even put it on one of their CD's of his material. I still think it is a great song.

The Dorsey Brothers were my favorites as I was growing up. Wished I had the opportunity to see them in their prime. This record was one of my keepers just because I loved Dorsey and wanted to hear more. they left us far too soon. Jerry in Poway, Ca.

This Hotel was written by Dorsey Burnette and Red West who was a body guard for Elvis Presley. Some folks may not know that he co-wrote that tune with Dorsey Burnette

No they can't, they were hard to find when they were new in 1960. "The River And The Mountain" and "This Hotel" have never been put on an LP or a CD of Dorsey's work. Which is to bad as I think it was his best.

I don't think Dorsey had a great voice but in the late fifties he had a style all his own. You liked it or you didn't. Then in the middle sixties he went to straight country and I don't think the country style suited him.

I'm glad to hear that someone else has a copy of the record, I thought I was the only one. In the winter of 1960 I was in the army at Ft Knox Ky and the radio played "River And The Mountain" all the time. But once I got away from there I never heard it again. That's also where I found the record at. They put out a CD of what was suppose to be all of Dorsey's recordings on Era records. But these two were not on it.

Hey markalson, Rest assured there is someone out here that's very familiar with these songs, particularly "This Hotel"...because I have a copy of it. Funny thing about this record, I got a copy of it because my Dad used to work at a radio station where this was considered R&R which they didn't play, therefore he would bring home a handful of records every now and then to me and that's how I got my copy. Nice to see someone else remembers the "non hit"........good job!
