"Over And Over Again" is one of the biggest production numbers in the wonderful M-G-M circus musical "Billy Rose's Jumbo" (1962). The number begins with Doris Day coaxing one of the little girl acrobats to keep trying her trick over and over again. Doris starts to sing the song, gets herself in the middle of an acrobatic trick or two - and the number builds into literally a three-ring circus at its climax, with an assortment of seals, jugglers, acrobats, and trapeze artists - and Doris herself - swirling in perfect synchronization to Richard Rodgers' melody - under the strict and visually spectacular second-unit direction of the one and only Busby Berkeley (one of his final screen assignments - although not given screen credit). This number is visually beautiful, and captures the essence of "circus" in rehearsal as well as it later captures it in full performance mode. As always, Doris Day adds her own glittering star power to this great musical scene. Orchestra under the direction of George Stoll.

I saw this movie when Turner Classic Movies aired it a few years ago and immediately loved the score and Doris, Jimmy, Martha, and Stephen. No wonder I loved the music, it’s Rodgers and Hart.
