Dedicated to my daughter and all Daughters Of The Sea.

Another Doobies song I love (yes I'm on a Doobies trip right now) - Daughters of the Sea and Flying Cloud from What Were Once Vices Are Now Habits (1974), both written by Patrick Simmons (my fave Doobie). I chose some dreamy images from artist Kagaya as well as others.

Towards the end, I used a pic of my daughter at age 4 standing in front of the Mediterranean in Cyprus 1994 (birthplace of Aphrodite). I'm not a very good photographer but this is the best pic I have ever taken I believe. She looks like she is contemplating life... or imagining some fairy tale dreamy oceanic world. The Mediterranean sea is aqua blue, but the camera I had at the time did not capture the color.

Is this oversped? Overspeeding is a trailer trash/masses of asses/1960s AM radio lobotomizing insult to great songs. Perhaps the uploader is not the culprit, but it's criminal when it's done. Great song, great imagery, but...

Donald McKay designed the Cloud. She was a masterpiece.Still holds the record from Boston to San Fran around the Horn, I believe.I live in Massachusetts; his spirit is everywhere. He was from Newburyport, MA..

This is a great Porter and Simmons collaboration for the album Vices and Habits of 1974

Loved it just like it is and loved the slides, too. Wanted a couple for Screen Savers but could not figure how to do it.

The Captain is right. Back-off the bass a bit and we're there. Awesome song. Any guitar players out there that can post a tutorial on this song? Be very appreciative.

What Kirke182 said below. I pulled out the cherished album, removed the protective Discwasher sleeve and checked. Tiran Porter did the second half, "Flying Cloud." Both cuts are amazing, and their joining was yet more brilliance for a massively underappreciated musically genius band.

This is a stunning song pair, and done really really nicely. Great mood piece. But the bass is mixed so heavily that I can't listen to it. I wish it could be remixed.

First time I saw them they did this and it was real highlight from the show. These guys were such a great guitar band; always loved their stuff.

It's a great song that I never heard until after 2010, and I grew up with the Doobies. However, the lyrics describe the sirens of Greek mythology. The alluring and dangerous power of the mystical woman.

This song is so damn unappreciated. It's one of the Doobie Brother's best, and since my dad is a big fan I've heard a LOT of their stuff. So great.

It was hard to find a bad song on those LP's the Doobie Brothers made in the first half of the 70's. Toulouse Street, The Captain and Me, What Were Once Vices are Now Habits and Stampede, they all 4 were great LP's that are vital to any 70's Rock LP collection.

According to the album credits, bassist Tiran Porter wrote "Flying Cloud."
