One of the most underrated bands around. Listen to other bands try to cover this song, they just don't find the groove and can't match the subtle complexity and pure musicianship of what the Doobies accomplish on stage and in the studio.

Looks like Tom Olson !Have not heard this in a long time, Still sound fresh, & sounds better than most of today music . I don't count rap as music, it is for people that can't play or sing

Wow! Patrick Simmons with short hair! LOL This song somehow reminds me of B.B. King's "The Thrill Is Gone" - very well done.

The tune rocks but this live version is hideous. If you haven't already heard it, dig out the album version for an infinitely better listen

Completely agree with you. What have they done to it?!

Absolutely awesome song - on the album - but this live version is absolutely terrible. It's soooo bad that it makes you think the song is barely average. What a shame.

We used to do this one and a couple others but I can't say I like this version too much.

One other thing: the guitar solos, particularly the use of strings (be they acoustic or sampled/synthesized) remind me of the solos in B.B. King's classic 'The The Thrill is Gone'. And now, I shall listen to the entire album. : )

Yes, absolutely; in my opinion, 'The Captain and Me' is unsurpassed, song by song, as a strong, melodic, engaging album. Though there is not as much blending/fading as in "Dark Side of the Moon, Sgt. Pepper, etc., there is, for me, a conceptual feel. This owes to the art of track order. Yes, I, too, miss the lead guitar 'responses' to the vocal lines in the the verses.
