Donna's top 10 grammy nominated effort, produced by Quincy Jones after the "I'm A Rainbow" album debacle. Quincy would go on to produce MJ's "Thriller" immediately afterward. This album included the "practice run" for "We Are The World", Jon and Vengelis' "State of Independence". I've merged the 12" vinyl with the CD album track to capture the best sound whenever possible, as to my knowledge, this extended track has yet to be remastered digitally.

This was totally the Michael Jackson sound in the 70s and 80s, so much that it seems like it was intended for him, before being presented to Summer. It has all the Jackson signatures in the background. The wooos, and high-inverted harmonies, and razor sharp danceable rhythm.

Was this summer of 1983? Seems like one of her last big hits, she had a good run though....RIP

GetBookedTV is a true idiot...Donna Summer made the best decisions for her career...some of the best music came after Bad Girls was made...if I'm A Rainbow had been released when it should have been released there would have been a ton of hits off of it...it was great that she switched producers and did what she wanted to do for a change...this only showed her range as a recording artist...one can't blame David Geffen for being an in the closet fag for why Donnas' career suffered...some of the best songs of her career came out of this period of music making...The Wanderer was a classic record through and through...it was just a continuation of Bad Girls...so would have been I'm A Rainbow and The Donna Summer album that I did not know had been recorded before MJ's Thriller...what a nice little tidbit/gem of information to learn...its very sad the record companies decide to shelve complete albums of great recording artists and then they finally get released as an afterthought...very sad indeed...its always the owners of the record companies that screw things up and not the other way around...IF Paul Bogart of Casablanca Records had not released Dim All The Lights when he did and released it as it was supposed to be released Donna would have easily had 3 No. 1 records off that record and when Donna Summer found out about it she was fuming mad...I would have been too! Its always the owner of the record company trying to exert too much control over the artist and make money off of their success...I never liked David Geffen anyways as he is a pompous ass and did not really know what he was doing with Geffen records to begin with otherwise he would have kept it going and not sold the company at some point as he could not run the company the way a record company deserves to be run...HA! HA! Too bad to hear about his bad luck...Donna was and will always be considered a Great Recording Artist as she had so much variety going for her...hit or no hit...its fun to rediscover all of her material and listen to it again after so long of not listening to it...get with the program and drag out your albums and start listening to them...

The Rev. Jesse Jackson’s PUSH organization launched a campaign against disco. Sens. Trible, Hollings and Gore all discussed ways to protect children from "outrageous filth," ," 2 Live Crew’s "Nasty" also became the first album to be declared legally obscene.
