I think this song is the sequel to Slinky Thing. The lyrics follow one from the other, and even the riff is similar and kind of a counterpoint.

I'm so stuck on this amazing album! Donald Fagen is in a class all by himself <3 I feel fortunate that my dad let me play his albums whenever I wanted to as a kid. Even as a little girl I thought Steely Dan/D.F. was heads and tails above the rest. I listened to Aja religiously and I still play it often to this day. He writes the most beautiful musical stories and I never get tired of hearing them. My faves are Aja, Two Against Nature and The Nightfly. IMHO, no music collection is complete without those 3.

This song grew on me. The first time I heard it, it kind of breezed over me and I wasn't so impressed by it. But now... well.. now I absolutely love it. Beautiful chord changes, really intriguing song. I love this tune. Sunken Condos is another great record.

What some of the commenters here don't get is that this CD is supposed to be a lot looser and more relaxed. I certainly don't think Mr. Fagan has lost his magical touch.

Thanks MrDavearama. Finally someone else can hear how lame this new album is. The real question is why so many people think it's so great? Every song sounds the same. Either people assume it's supposed to be good cause it's Fagen. Or they want to like it so badly they can't hear what's really happening. Sad indeed...
