I first heard this by Don Nix and the Alabama State Troupers (it was a double album). Nix is from Memphis and was part of the Stax/Volt sound. He was w/the Mar-Keys (forerunners of Booker T and the MGs). He played sax. Listen to Last Night. Long live Don Nix and the Stax/Volt sound. What a great song! If this doesn't get you moving, your dead.

Don Nix is so good, so important that he would have fit in as a member of The Band if they needed someone with his musical talent, writing ability & incredible vocals. But, like Delaney & Bonnie, he had credentials, had big influential musical friends (as this album attests), & he had record contracts. But for some reason the Grateful Dead crowd, The Band's fans, the Dylan lovers, the Clapton worshippers -- they just missed out on this great performer. Too bad, because his stuff is stellar.

Leslie West too. Don Nix wrote this, Freddy King was the first to play it out, Jeff Beck was the first to record it.

The guitar sounds out of tone at the beginning.
