Great use of metaphor! "Where has all the love gone? And what have we become? Storm clouds full of thunder, move silent as they drum . . . " The tragic tale of domestic disputes disintegrating into passive-aggressive cold wars.

"Till Tomorrow"What can this be, can you tell me?Would you like to discover why we're not freeTo be loversI've been wanting to ask youWhere has all the love goneAnd what have we becomeStorm clouds full of thunderMove silent as they drumAnd when they're gonewe'll be fine, till tomorrowThough I hope it won't rainYou will be mineAnd my sorrowWill take wings in the morning, High above the heavensA rainbow paints the skyWhite doves sing their songs of loveI watch them as they flyAnd wonder what can this beCan you tell meWould you like to discover why we're not freeTo be lovers

Followed Don Mcclean from the 1970's - went to all his concerts near Philadelphia. He does not get anywhere near the credit he deserves for all the great music he has written, way beyond American Pie. He is a story teller of the old folk music type. Everyone forgets he worked with Pete Seeger, he had to be special to be able to do that. Remember he brought Perry Como back from the dead. He got robbed of the Grammy that went to Hotel California because his votes were split between Vincent and American Pie. Either one would if have won Grammy if the other was not in the running. One of our great american song writers. Belongs in some hall of fame

It's a good thing John Belushi is dead.  If he walked by and heard Don singing this song, he'd probably grab the guitar and smash it, like in "Animal House."

Elegant, perfect-rhyme poetry songwriter up there with Cole Porter and Irving Berlin, as well as a writer of unsurpassed sensitive and beautiful songs.

I'm one of those people who have, I only ever heard of American Pie before, and then one day Vincent came on the music channel, and I instantly recognised his voice, I went straight out and bought the CD and now I'm in love with Don Mclean.

You are correct in your thinking. Much like Orson Welles who made a masterpiece in his 20,s......I think Don Mclean went from a folk rock songwriter to a superstar. I mean he will almost surely never top the sales of american pie with any other song, even if it is a better constructed one. When asked what American Pie meant he once said "never having to work again unless I want too".

Don McLean is the best his music is beautiful. I especially like "Castles in the air" , great voice and great guitar. Today I only have good things to say. I don't have anything negative to say about anyone. I'll just listen to Don McLean.
