Don Gibson sings Blue Blue Day.

It's a different version than all others found here. I like this one better, more stripped down country version (sort of).

"It's been a blue-blue day

I feel like runnin' away

I feel like

Runnin' away from it all

My love has been untrue

She's found somebody new

It's been a blue-blue day

For me

I feel like cryin', dyin'

What can I do

Feel like prayin', sayin'

I'm glad we're through

It's been a blue-blue day

I feel like runnin' away

I feel like

Runnin' away from the blues

How can I make believe

That I don't sit and grieve

It's been a blue-blue day

For me

I can't pretend and say

That I don't love her anyway

It's been a blue-blue day

For me

I feel like cryin', dyin'

What can I do

Feel like prayin', sayin'

I'm glad we're through

It's been a blue-blue day

I feel like runnin' away

I feel like

Runnin' away from the blues

I feel like

Runnin' away from the blues"

I have a terrible association with this song and I could not listen to it for more than 25 years. My Dad took me to school on the morning of October 9, 1957 and as he dropped me off in front of the school, this song by Don Gibson was playing on the car radio. That was the last time I saw my dad alive, He died later that day of a cerebral hemorrhage and I never got to say goodbye. To me it's a very sad song, but now I can listen to it and appreciate it as one of Don's best recordings.

Don Gibson was hot in the summer of 1958 when I was in boot camp. His songs made us homesick! Still love the voice and simple songs. Thanks Don for many happy memories

This is by far the best version of this song. It's also on the soundtrack to "A Perfect World".

This is original hit version. 'Blue Blue Day' was recorded June 1957 and released as the flip side of 'Too Soon To Know' Aug 1957...Not a hit. Then Don recorded 'Oh Lonesome Me' in Dec 1957 and released it 1958...By Apr, BIG # 1 hit and flip side 'I Can't Stop Loving You' went to # 7..Then they released the same June 1957 version of 'Blue Blue Day' and by Jul/Aug 1958 it was # 1 for 2 weeks. Also on Apr 1958 DG 'Oh Lonesome Me' album and released on RCA extended play 45(4 songs) in 1958...srj
