When people who say, "I wish I had lived in those days because I'd fit," I think of this song. My mother went through this era of all the kids working from sun up to sun down. They went to school when they weren't needed in the fields. They had shoes that they wore to church or to town only. Not to school. Maybe you've seen pictures of kids going to school like that? From the time they could hold a teat they milked and you didn't eat if you didn't get your chores done. I could go on and on but it is a a real miracle that 11 out of 12 survived. One was 17 1/2 when he was killed. But you didn't have to ask they how those days were. For the most part they hated them. On top of that they had an abusive father. One who beat them instead of just spanking. Beat his wife too but there was no place to go for her and her kids. I'm so grateful I wasn't born then. "The good ole' days" weren't the good ole' days after all. Thanks Little. I haven't heard this song for years. And of course MP. :)
