The third melody in Melanie Pappenheim's trilogy book-ended the two series. It was first heard when Rose entered the TARDIS in Series 1, but this version appeared at the end of 'Doomsday'. Billie Piper helped new viewers get into Doctor Who and her performance made writing music much easier. Even in the middle of Winter, she was a bright warm sun on the screen. I was in bits at the beach scene and got so fed up with keeping it a secret that I had to play it to my dad. Sorry Phil. The bass guitar on this version is my trusty Fender Jazz. - Murray Gold

What's the little track that plays in The Impossible Planet when the Ood threaten The Doctor and Rose in the intro? The same track also plays when The Doctor first discovers The Beast in The Satan Pit and in Love and Monsters when the Abzorbaloff absorbs Ursula. I like that piece of music.

For anyone who wants to learn the opening riff on guitar it's F(x16) G#(x16) C#(x16) A#(x8) C(x8) repeat. Easy! Then after repeating once play:D#(x8) C#(x16) C(x24) G#(x16) A#(x16) B#(x48)(Please note I transcribed this by ear so apologies if it's not 100% accurate also I've found its best to play it on the E string as the original is of course played on a base so you want it to be as low as possible)
