You say 'purposefully' with some confidence... I'm not denying that it's not irritating in this context and it's an interesting quirk of this (great) song, but I wonder if someone didn't just leave their phone close to a speak during the recording process and that was the result?! I'm sure they were aware of it being included either way though.
