Yes, the p does stand for 'pixels' and yes, it doesn't usually mean anything for the sound quality, but YouTube likes to think that if you want to lower the video quality, you're looking for a faster buffer speed by reducing the bytes. How else can you reduce bytes? Reduce sound quality by reducing the frequency range. So, in this case, you're wrong.
