Canadian finals is in 2.5 weeks, gonna be going for my 3rd title there, and World finals are Oct 5th. DMC Online results announced this Wednesday too :)

Yea, juggles with custom tracks are missing the "flip" which is like the coolest thing about beat juggle routines... where people don't just hear the end result, they hear difference between the original and what you made it as well. It's easiest to achieve using a known track, but doesn't HAVE to be well known as long as it's accessible. My salsa beat juggle gets good reaction even though I've never met a person who knew the song I used, and only 1 person who recognized the sample in it.

I hear you, the only problem is that musicality becomes so subjective as far as judging, like personally I didn't think the Purple Haze juggle sounded that great... I always thought Craze's It's Automatic juggle was more musical and catchier. My fav part of Dexta's set was the jazz bit by far.

Dexta definitely should not have won... yes his set was clever and entertaining, and I don't doubt the crowd loved it, but his skills weren't even close to Craze's. He chose cool/unique tracks but his juggle patterns were dated, whereas Craze was doing shit that no one else could do then, and likely still can't do. I love Dexta's set too and think it's classic, just not a winning battle routine.

I looked the original song hoops and Craze mustve been high to hear something in that song, and made gold outta it.

not taking anything away from your overall point: turntablism is its own art. but don't underestimate the art of party-rocking! There's a lot more to it than just playing the hot songs: knowing when to play those songs, keeping a flow going, reading the crowd, etc. But turntablism takes far more musical skill, no question.
