@10keknight Nothing happened to them, they're doing just fine. As of 2013, they are the all-time top selling female band in the US AND the top selling country band. Natalie Maines debuted top 20 on the Billboard with her solo album. They're doing a large multi-country tour in 2013/2014.

Awesome talent ... but when you claim to speak for everyone from Texas you'd better make damn sure you are telling the truth. She wasn't, she lied, she had an agenda - cost her millions and millions and personally, IMHO, she got what she deserved, the whole band did. If they had the right to say what they did, then their former fans definitely had the right to react as we did. Bird piss on the Dixie Chicks.

The DC dignity will never be crushed. They spoke their minds, thats it, and thats all. The only problem they had was the direction of Country music. And how it attracts red necks and bigots and they don't like that. Then they attempted to change their style.But after their 2007 Grammys. They just faded away. I guess they didn't want to sing anymore.

also, just afun fact, not only are they great... they were (i'm not sure if they still hold the record) but the top selling female group of all time. after everything happened, there were trashcans set up all over the country in cities and towns for people to put their records in. they were then burned by the owners of the trashcans. People bought the cds just to burn them. it was insanity

if you haven't heard it yet (because you said you never heard of them), listen to their version of the American National Anthem. Where I grew up, they played it every Sunday at 12 noon on the radio until they went against Bush. Even if you're not American, it's beautiful and the harmonies are flawless (like the rest of their songs). Probably the best I've heard.
