Agreed with you. That;s my favorite Dismember song, and perfectly written, but yeah the production like you said is overcompressed. I do like the song though. Even though Dismember was a death metal band, they had plenty of Maiden influence. Phantoms of the Oath is a good example

Hmmmm well I do audio recording/mastering work and to me that song sounds like most of the dynamics have been almost completely destroyed with either way too much compression or EQ scooping. To my ears it sounds distant and almost muddy. I can also hear weird pick scraping too, which is a bit annoying. So to summarize, recording wise.. I think the quality is a total disaster. As for the music itself, the intro immediately reminds me of Iron Maiden, the rest is pretty much signature guitar work.

Well, I've always been a Dismember fan and I totally disagree. Both "Everflowing" and "Indecent" were top notch and "Pieces" was a definite masterpiece, but after that, I started to dislike most of their work. Some stuff on "Death Metal" was good, the rest seemed like it was lacking something they previously had, not quite sure what it was. I will say things just didn't seem as 'polished' after those first three releases. I actually feel the same way about Entombed. Seems too rushed or something

It sucks compared to the older stuff. I think they moved to fast to produce it, as with most music these days. Motherfuckers always pushing for more. Sad fact..
