Disharmonic Orchestra was/is an Austrian Grindcore/ Progressive Death Metal/ Avantgarde Metal band, founded Klagenfurt of Carinthia in 1987. The first three demos of the band "Requiem for the Forest", "The Unequalled Visual" and "Hypophysis Rehearsal" was recorded in 1988. 1989 they were featured on a Nuclear Blast split release with Pungent Stench. EP "Successive substitution" was released through Nuclear Blast in 1989. The band recorded and released their first full-length "Expositionsprophylaxe" in 1990 through Nuclear Blast. After the "Mind Seduction" single, the band recorded and their second full-length "Not to be Undimensional Conscious" in Swedish Sunlight Studios with assistance of Tomas Skosberg in 1992. The album was released by Nuclear Blast.

On this album, the style of the band had chanced from share Grindcore to more something, that could be described as Progressive Death Metal.

On their next, third release "Pleasuredome" of 1994, the band's musical style had once more changed, now to Avantgarde metal. The album was released by Nuclear Blast.

Soon after the release of their third album, the band split up.

The reunion of the band was commited in 2001, and thereafter, the band has recorded and released whole new album "Ahead", continueing on the same route as "Pleasuredome".
