That's a very diplomatic way to say it... I'm afraid I'm less suitable for a Coprs Diplomatique licence plate or an embassy-related job...

When he sings "There goes my heart again", it all makes much more sense, believable. He sounds indeed like he's been there many times before, seen it all over and over again. However, you just cannot sing all kind of lyrics in the same old one dimensional style. Well, he could apparantly, and still sell phenomenally good. But as said; selling figures may count for record companies, for real music lovers, there should be more. Music is about emotion, hence the necessary link with the lyrics...

And for those who don't understand why I'm getting on mighty high horses, these reactions are not on Skarbek's visible one, but one which has been deleted by Youtube. Do I need to say more ? No, it didn't say I'm a lousy racist or something like that. It was stand up routine that said it all between the lines, behind the words. I'm not against debates, I love to hear good arguments. When you're becoming personal however, sorry, but than backfire is logical.

And THAT's objective. Does that mean that I don't appreciate FD in other cases ? No ! Does that mean that I'm a lousy crypto rascist white boy ? No ! I'm talking about this song, and only this song. I gave objective, measurable, comparable elements to build my case of the Gale version versus the Domino one. And if you would have googled my name, you might have seen that I wrote a very nice tribute (in dutch) to a Tommy Edwards song. Does that sound like a KKK member ? So please !

Damned ! Fats sings about something fantastic he has seen on the street, but seems almost to fall asleep during his own performance. That works out fine in many of his songs, but here the lyrics and the general attitude just don't dance the tango in perfect harmony. Sunny Gale does ! She's happy, cheerful, fresh, buoyant, and therefor close to the lyrics. You can HEAR she's met someone wonderful, she sounds in love, full of anticipation in seeing him again. Fats sounds like he has a tommy ache.

Bow wow ! You are a very respectful person, with room for other people's view as I see. A real democratic boy ! Don't turn Fats into some kind of musical god, that never ever made something sloppier than generally. No artist ever made everything excellent from A to Z, not Mozart, Elvis nor the Beatles. Try to remain an objective fan, not fanatic one. Outstanding selling figures are no argument either. But above all, allow someone to have an opinion of his own, in stead of playing little Hitler !

If you're seeing a dream walking, it's no time to feel almost asleep and dragging your feet like Fats' is doing... The man surely made nice songs, but this is really terrible. But well, everyone has his or her favorite singer, and we could go on discussing till dogs can fly again... Enjoy your version, I'll proudly stick to mine...
