From Diana Damrau's new album "Fiamma del Bel Canto". I have never been a fan of Diana though I did like her first Mozart/Salieri recital album. However, I think in this particular recording she showed a different aspect of her vocalism, in a lower tessitura, perhaps giving a hint of what her Norma might be like in the future.

I Love Diana. Her voice is very versatile and she sang all the roles of a super high coloratura before getting heavier after having three children as well as other factors. Her career is very exciting because now she can sing bel canto as well as lyric or lyrical roles such as in Les Peuchers des Perles. I think she has already made a great name for herself in her work in Mozart and Salieri as well as Strauss' Zerbinetta for the super high roles. Now she's in the right place for bel canto and I'm sure she will do her usual amazing work there.

I have been listening to her Mozart/Salieri recital album so much lately. I think that was the best thing she has done. Her Fiamma del Bel Canto was interesting. I was looking forward to her take on Rosmonda d'Inghilterra but it was so flat compared to Sutherland, Sills, and even Renee Fleming.

I don't think Damrau was ever a genuine high voiced soprano, and her voice was always more pleasant in a more central tessitura. Her voice gets ugly above a c6.
