The DGT also has the DGT electronics layout which a lot of people love. Other pick-ups, other finish, phase III tuners, thicker body.

While it's not a huge change the finish will still change tone. A guitar with a thick finish will sound different the a guitar with a thin finish, which will sound totally different from a guitar with just bare wood. It all affects how the string vibrations get to the pickups. A lot of tele players will sand the finish off underneath the bridge to get a different tone.

I don't think the type of finish has much to do with the overall tone. Maybe the nitro will allow the guitar to "break in" more as it ages, but then again the whole premise of the v12 was to take the good aspects of both nitro and poly and combine them. So in short, I dont know :)

I'd say yours would sound a little more "modern" or aggressive due to the pickups. Overall, I think the biggest thing would be if yours had a trem or not. If it does I'd bet a pickups swap could get them sounding close if not identical

Like he said, just a little difference in the mid range. Yours has a maple top. maple is denser so its brighter. mahogany is less dense so its warmer.
