We're not metal anymore

We're the punky rockin' whores!

Born to make the girls go crazy

Let us in the latest fad

We'll be the best you've ever had!

Even thought we're losers baby!

(This music) scares the hell right out of me!

Even thought it makes you feel alright

You're not punk and you never will be!

- And you put a number on us all!

Oh, don't it make you mad?

Oh, don't it make you sad?

It's everything I hate

So I'm here lying on the floor

'Cause I can't fake it through the door

I've learned the recipe for bait!

It's everything you're meant to be

Stuff Mom and Dad will never see

My excuses to be lazy!

'Cause we're not babies anymore!

Gonna start a fucking war!

Anything to make you crazy!!

(Generation) X is a consumer fallacy!

(And I hear you say) Why push yourself if there's no hope at all?

Well just count the things you'll never be

And pass them over as you fall!!!

I've gotta get now to a phone

I can't stand another minute alone

'Cause I've got to know who's making it right now!

The funniest thing is that in Vancouver, Cryptic Coroner would be way more successful than Punky Bruster.

Metal is Awesome! but i think some softer more melodic music can be thought provoking as long as the notes are in the right place. an example of this I like is moonchild by king crimson.

Ok... well just letting you know that just because someone (in this case me) doesn't agree with you, that doesn't mean that the person has any problems. To me an argument is just a way of understanding the mindset of those who think differently than myself, and trying to explain my own position as well. But if you don't want it, I won't force it. See you next time.

I don't want this discussion to turn into an argument. See you next Azurite stream.

Well you just stereotyped an entire genre and then insulted the stereotype, so I don't think I'm going to look into the albums you told me to look into, mainly because you seem to know nothing of the genre. Meaning is not "mostly absent", in fact, it's more present than in most genres. As for most of the genre being "distortion and tremolo", it sounds like you've only listened to like 2 bands. Here's a song that defies your preconceived notion of Metal - /watch?v=QsT9ksm6zRE

Well most of what's going on is distortion and tremolo. But if you like analyzing music, check out the albums Lunatic Harness by µ-Ziq, Colorful Vibrations by Kromestar, and In the Aeroplane Over the Sea by Neutral Milk Hotel. These won't only urge you to analyze the mechanics of the music, but also the meaning, which is mostly absent from heavy music. (BTW, throw in some heavy distortion and you can make anyone think you're a musical genius.)

I listen largely to Heavy Metal. All things, to me, are more an intellectual exercise than an emotional one. Soft, mellow music is bothersome to me because there isn't much going on. Just throw in a minor scale and some slow riffing and you can make anyone think you're some musical genius. I prefer music that makes me THINK, and softer music just doesn't do that. It's too simple for me. I don't ONLY listen to Metal, but it's the main genre for me, because there's so much going on in it.

I love the direction he's going. Ki is one of my favorite albums ever. But I'm not really a fan of heavy music; it seems pretty meaningless to me compared to soft, melodic stuff. But I'm listening to the entire Devin Townsend chronology right now just so I know where he came from. Also, from the wording you used, it seems like you're saying you only listen to heavy metal. I hope that isn't the case. If so, I strongly urge you to try and find more stuff you enjoy!

I found Devin Townsend through the hype surrounding the release of Strapping Young Lad's "Alien" back in 2005, and I found out about Dez when Rock Band came out and I started looking up drumming videos of people. I'm a bigger fan of Dez now than Devin, because Devin seems to be going in a much softer direction than I care to listen to. I miss the SYL days.

I found out about Dev from Dez, but I don't associate the two at all, since they're completely different (and I'm probably more a fan of Dev now, since I like music more than anything else). The only real similarities they have are the faces.

It's probably because Azuritereaction is a huge Devin Townsend fan, and he says it often, and Azurite fans go watch his videos. However, I've been a Devin fan since before I was a Dezmond fan, and I've been a fan of both of them for a long time, so there's not really a correlation between the two in my case.

I love how there are always AzuriteReaction fans on Devin Townsend videos.
