You ever notice how on most metal videos, if the band is doing something unique and original and mixes a bunch of different sounds into their music, some people will try to put a genre onto it? Like they will try to define it and then someone else comes along and says "No this isn't progressive jazzy post applecore, this is ambient symphonic shoepollish fusion" Then another guy is like "NO ITS NEITHER OF THOSE THIS IS BLBLAFJK BHAKLJFHBJASHDBJKHBKSB METAL!" It's a very entertaining display of genre defining. But you never see that on Devin Townsend videos, like EVER at least from my experience, And I think that says a lot more about the music than the fans themselves as its usually the fans fault for being so genre-defining. It kinda proves to you how amazing and unique Devy's music is, like people wont't even ATTEMPT to put it into any kind of genre or combination or genres because you just can't do that with Devin Townsend, hes just truly one of a kind that starstruck people and reduces any possibility of doing any stupid "hey you know what genre this is? It's post hardcore bleblah bloooblah blappy wappy bklagajfhkjdafhb rock fusion core" It just don't happen haha

I love that album so much... I was just thinking the other day, what would happen if Devin decided to force Punky Bruster and Ziltoid to meet in Z2? I know he really doesn't do Punky-style music anymore, but still. That would be amazing.

I know!! I've listened to this album hundreds of times and I never stop being amazed at it—but it didn't happen overnight for me. For the longest time I only liked "Earth Day" partly because of the sarcasm, and then suddenly I listened to the whole thing again and was blown away.

@spydergarbler That's the way Devin is for me. I show people Ghost, telling them how beautiful it is, and they say it's just white noise. Okay, I can understand it's not for everybody, but then I show them Synchestra, to start implementing some heavier sounds for them, and they call it bland. I show them Deconstruction and Ocean Machine: Biomech, and they have the nerve to say it's too heavy, too Death Metal-esque. Today's generation is far too inept to comprehend his excellence, I suppose.
