@blitzgreg1 soca is soca no matter where it comes from, just like how some people does like old school soca and sing it some people like different variations of soca. Same thing with dancehall you have people who sing dancehall and others that sing old school reggae just leave music be music and appreciate the voice that they have to give to us whether its seasonal or w.e soca is meant to be enjoy so enjoy it. the artist have millions of fans

Machel Montano can pack Madison Square Garden in NYC with fans. I think Destra could come close if not meet the task. It just depends how many places it is marketed.

@rumanroti She should have her own concert. She is on a different level compared to some of them other artistes...

@rumanroti She works with Barbadian producers a lot and they seem to have more of an authentic feel good soca flavour than our home grown producers who were weened on dancehall and hip hop. Sad to say the pool of young people that would potentially form the fan base have no real love for authentic soca music. It's seasonal hype for them.

@rumanroti Her fan base would never be as strong as it appeals to a slightly differnt demographic. Her music goes over the head of a Machel fan. I think some young women seem to resent her for obvious reasons too. This is a country where hype and gimmicks rule

@blitzgreg1 she wrote recorded and released the song the very week before carnival. Thats why nobody knew the song, but she said she felt the lyrics spoke to how trinis feel about carnival so she decided to sing it for soca monarch despite...

prplheart I think I have too minds about the issue. The release date was definitely too late, but there seems to be a conspiracy afoot to determine who wins or even contends for road March. Destra has other strong songs, none of which are receiving any attention at this high time

@prplheart I couldn't agree more. Don't if that release dte was deliberate or delayed due to circumstances, but it has hampered a great song from gaining momentun. Anyway the song is ours to enjoy. Thanks to Destra

@blitzgreg1 I agree, but Destra erred in not releasing this tune earlier. If she had released it in January, it's likely she would've walked away with the title....this is the best RoadMarch tune I've heard for the season

It is sad that this is the wickedest road march contender that the contemptuous Trinidad public would ignore, or the radio won't play. instead they would rather be brow beaten with far inferior offerings from people moonlighting and pretending to be talented artistes
