I think it's pretty clear. He's speaking on behalf of the church, us. All of us. We have been wrong, we've hurt people. We are sorry, World and God. We love you, World and God. In verse 1, he says that he's been saying this the whole time. In verse 2, he gets a little more specific on how we as the church have messed up. The bridge is our confession, repentance, and reaffirmation that we are in need of God. If I'm wrong, I don't care.11 years ago

Maybe I didn't give a good explanation. He's certainly not apologizing for the truths. He said at the She Must and Shall Go Free concert I went to a few months ago that he still believes every word of that album. He's more talking about how he pushed the boundaries in certain ways that alienated folks. I'm certain Derek will come out before the record releases and give a WAY better explanation for this than I did.11 years ago
