Depeche Mode playing "Rush", their opening track for the Summer (Devotional) Tour, back in 1994.

Depeche in their most magical but tragical moment.

Awesome performance...

I was at the show where Dave O.D.'d in New Orleans. That show sucked as they only played for about 40 minutes. This was the next show in our area and I was a little hesitant to go. I sure am glad I did, they more than made up for the NOLA show. They played what seemed like forever. It was fantastic!!! Hopefully they will come back around here in 2013. I need my DM fix!

You're right--Fletch is definitely the business smarts behind the band and he deserves respect for keeping everything together.

This was the last time you'd hear an Alan Wilder produced show and it was EFFING AWESOME! One of the best things about DM is that they have great remixes of their songs and for them to include as intro's is great, especially this one. For me, this and Pimpf during the MFTM tour are the best ever intro's.

The name of this tour at that time was Exotic Tour.

@wsdasda Yes, Daryl Bamonte was the substitute for Andy Fletcher for a few concerts in this tour.

Sick opening and sick version of Rush. Terribly good.

I am amazed as to how Dave has so much energy. I mean before, then and now. With and without drugs.

@macsmurf78 Actually sumnerify is correct: Andrew Fletcher is the unsung hero of DM. It was Fletch who was able to help the band re-group after Alan left. Fletch also supported and encouraged Martin to take over writing duties when Vince Clarke left the band in 82. Maybe Fletch isn't a great musician like Alan, Dave, or Martin are, but his positive influence and keen business sense has been instrumental to DM flourishing for three decades now.

@kindgott Dave also didn't want to be down on the stage by himself. He wanted the support of having the rest of the guys closer. Dave has said several times that he doesn't really like being out front all alone lol.

@dep1001 Devotional's "Higher Love" is one of my favorite show openers of all time. But Rush might be my favorite song on SOFAD, so it's a toss up lol.

This is the very first song I ever heard at a DM concert. Great Woods, Mansfield,Ma. in 1994. They were incredible!!!

I've seen every DM tour since 1988, and "Higher Love" is by far my all-time favorite opening. But I like the dance intro here, and I can't overstate how odd it was at the time to see them take the stage with Alan on drums. Alan had tinkered with drums before, but this is the first time they employed the traditional rock band stage setup that they unfortunately still use today.
