He is an excellent drummer...this is more straight forward swedish death metal, it wouldn't make much sense if he started putting jazz beats in the middle of the song. But you can clearly hear small details (i.e. breaks at 0:23, 0:38, 1:02, 1:20 etc etc). Its true the production is quite compressed, but hell you can clearly hear what he does!

@crucifytheinnocent1 I know what you mean. unfortunately old school black metal made repetitive "bass, snare, bass, snare, bass, snare" drumming popular back in the 80s : / I prefer some groove to my drummers myself.

I find the drummer a bit boring. It may just be the mastering and producing that masks his drumming but most of what I hear is a consistent bashing of the snare. I'd definitely like to hear some more variety.
