Bought this record at the little shop on Main St. in Bensenville, IL on my way home from high school in 1963. It STILL plays!

Del Shannon was a stronger singer later in his career. It seems that way to me.

All Del Shannon fans rejoice as there is an Australian Production Show about to tour all around Australia with a World Class Tribute To Del Shannon & Roy Orbison Together In Concert - hopefully they can take the show around the world - I cannot wait and might even make the trip to Australia in early 2014.

Del Shannon was one of the best songwroter/performes of the era of the 60's. His songs will live on forever and I perform a few of his most popular songs at shows that I do. There are two reasons for this. Firstly, people want to hear them. Secondly, I feel the need to pay tribute to him for the enjoyment he brought to my generation! I wish he could have had the opportunity to talk out his problems with a professional instead of haveing taken his life! His talent is sorely missed!

Well, I learned something watching this. I have bookmarked a concert at Little Darlin's with Brian Hyland....it's probably from this same era. The song was "Gypsy Woman". It sounded sooo good that when I posted in YTube, I told Bryan that "he had thrown together one hellova backup band". Well, now I see that these guys are the exact same ones backing Del here. They must be the Little Darlin's house band. Whoever they are, they were damn good! First class musicians.

I agree with everything you've said. Now...for the "rest of the story". This is just one man's opinion...and as a M- 58 yrs. old I'm half a generation from those that "didn't sleep with their boyfriends". I think that because there was such a taboo about sleeping with your boyfriends back then, many couples entered into marriages where they were completely ignorant about sex, and many couples were hopelessly incompatible with each other. This led to cheating, + ultimately 50% divorce rate later.

Because girls did not sleep with boys, we could all enjoy the tease and flirting knowing that nothing was going to happen. The early 1960s were so much more easy for teenage romance. Todays young people don't know what they were missing.
