This is the sixth track from Deep Purple's third and eponymous album, Deep Purple (1969).

Lineup (Mk I): Ritchie Blackmore: guitar, Rod Evans: lead vocals, Nick Simper: bass guitar and backing vocals, Jon Lord: Hammond organ, keyboards, and backing vocals, Ian Paice: drums

Lyrics:

There's a black hill

We had a climb

Everything I need but nothing's mine

Satan's world, I've had a kill

Why didn't Rosemary ever take the pill?

Lying there waiting, waiting for the kill

Oh man won't do it, but the devil will

I'm losing time and my mind

Why can't I ever have what's naturally mine?

I got life and the things that go with it

If there's something else, where can i get it?

Lying there waiting, waiting for the kill

Oh man won't do it, but the devil will

Well here's my views, I always lose

Things I want to do are yesterday's news

Say life's a ball, I've had it all

Out there in another dance hall

Lying there waiting, waiting for the kill

Oh man won't do it, but the devil will

Take me as I am, an excuse for a man

Wherever I push someone stops my hand

As a matter of interest, tell me if you will

Why didn't Rosemary ever take the pill?

Lying there waiting, waiting for the kill

Oh man won't do it, but the devil will

Oh, why won't Rosemary ever take the pill?

it would be cool to see ritchie blackmore; and rod evans start a new band together.

Rod made mistakes and he paid for them . He should have recorded that third album with Captain Beyond and he would have cemented a solid artistic reputation. After losing the lawsuit Rod dropped out of music. and yes it was a shame because he did have a good distinctive voice that could have kept him working in some venue .

Una de las pocas bandas que he escuchado que tocan Rock de verdad, es decir, Rock con substancia.

I know what circa means. Isn't it funny how people who get caught in a lie always reply with shut up asshole. I am not an asshole for calling you out for your lie. Have a quality day.

first of all, I put a "c." in front of the 1978. Obviously, you need a little help in understanding what it means. It means 'circa". Look it up in a dictionary. Then look up "asshole".

Hmmm... Not sure now. I remember that my uncle was visiting us from France, and he, my GF at the time, and I drove up to Toronto from Detroit. Now I just have to figure out which GF :-)

the guitar solo still sends chills up my spine - it's only been 40plus years -- saw them in Toronto c. 1978 at a free concert
