MK4! With David Coverdale now firmly entrenched as the leader of the Band-Remember, Jon and Ian, although the musical Backbone of DP, were never the ones to give direction or Dictate the Musical direction the band undertook. Although Glenn had input in the process, it was David that brought up Tommy-from the Cobham record (Spectrum). Well the Rest is now history! Drifter, Great and Underrated Track, David relaxing into his leader position, sounds improved from Stormbringer. A younger version of Paul Rodgers. Tommy sounds Fresh as well, Exciting Guitarist, Fusion-Rock-Jazz all blended into One style. Cheers

Althogh there is no discussion on how good Ritchie Blackmore is, sometimes I have this feeling that Tommy Bolin was by far the most complete and total musician Purple ever had. He had more musical essence in one finger than any other in their bodies. Well, Blackmore, Glover and Coverdale perhaps...

I'm more a Blackmore fan than a DPurple fan ... this album IMO is A W E S O M E !! The songs are beautiful , Bolin superb !!!!! Although he had a different style he had the MAGIC that DPURPLE needed ... since 1993 DPurple lost their essense ... they lost the magic ... STEVE MORSE is technically excellent but he doesn't have the magic neither the feeling that Ritchie or Tommy gave to the band .... a couple of albums more with this line up would have been incredible.

It's all right, but where is the difference from the original?

This version of Purple could have done at least two more records.

For me, this is one of the best tracks on CTTB. Coverdale on fire, well, they all are. Some great bass lines from Glenn near the end, during the Rolling On chorus!

Coverdale rules on this one, such an underappreciated song, for me, I thought when I first bought this LP, yes I bought albums reminded me at the time like a harder version of what Bad Company was sounding like, but with the Purple mystery to it! what did you think of this CD-Come Taste the Band when you 1st heard it?
