+Lianne Miller yeah, I'll agree bout the Stones, Ronnie is overall my favourite guitarist who's ever been in the stones but not for his work in the stones, Mick is a close second of course, but he was the best when it comes to his actual work in the stones. but I think Ronnie in the Faces was easily at his best and sadly stagnated after joining the stones, which is a real shame cause his playing in the faces (especially live) was just sublime and some of the best playing ever.

I will make the same argument that the best Rolling Stones Band in my personal taste opinion was with Mick Taylor playing guitar. Nothing against Ron Wood but I liked him better with both the Jeff Beck Group,The Faces,& Rod Stewart in the early 1970s.

Too bad they disbanded in March 1976. Now we are still stuck with the Rolling Stones while all the other Bands have died disbanded or retired decades ago.

Yes it does. It is tragic that he died less than 2 years after this was recorded. Ritchie Blackmore will never return to Deep Purple reunions but I wonder if Tommy Bolin would while Jon Lord was still alive.

Even Jimi Hendrix had he lived 20 years longer would have had to quit using his name & join the New Sounding British Heavy Metal Bands of the 1970s to survive in the business. Psychedelic music was dying by 1970 and quickly being replaced by much more advanced new sound.

The reason for Rod Evans & Nick Simper firing in 1969 was because they did want to be just a psychedelic band but their goal was to be a much harder rock group like other bands in the world were becoming by 1969. Psychedelic sound was really short lived compared to hard rock sound (which later became known as heavy metal). Deep Purple would have died before 1970 if they had remained psychedelic sounding with Rod Evans & Nick Simper. The competition from Black Sabbath & Led Zeppelin was too big.

"could". Even Roger Glover said they could have been a world beater, they had so much potential.

This proves that Tommy Bolin were such a good replacement for Ritchie blackmore....world class together with david coverdale who sings so good!!! really a shame it only were good in the studio...but they couldnt keep it up...so they became the perfect strangers.

Great demonstration of why MkIV "could" have been the best Purple line up.
