I love this song....but maybe it was not the best idea, I think Kisses 4 One should have gone out to radio, it was a song about AIDS and a very great track to dance to as well, a positive message with Janet Jackson gone Debbie feel

ANY other song from Body Mind Soul would have been a better single choice than SYM. Losin' Myself was a superb lead off single that showed Debbie was a bit older yet sexy and mature sound. SYM was silly and tied too hard. Ruined the whole album promotion.

I like this song and she looks AMAZING(!) in this video (hair, costume, makeup)... At first I thought the audio was a bit out of sync with the video, but now I suspect Deb hadn't made a serious commitment to lip-syncing when this was filmed. She's kinda all over the place... :-}

I don't know... There's 'horror' and then there's "HORROR"! Check out "Sending All My Love" by LINEAR. You just might fall in LOVE with THIS tune after hearing that DRECK! Seriously. It's an affront to all life on this planet!

Yeah, I don't buy the "forced on her" thing. She wrote and produced these songs. And I'm sure no one asked to write a song as absurd as this. I like Debbie, but this is HORRIFIC.

The song-to no surprise-was not a hit. It charted up to # 74 in the UK and I cannot locate any other chart position anywhere else. It's not a bad song per say but clearly Debbie and/or her label wanted a sexier image. No one seemed to care if the image seemed natural. Look at this video. Look at the video for the previous single "Losin Myself". Then look at the video for Deb performing "SYM" by user burabiairi from a Taiwan outlet. So NOT sexy in the least. The sexier image felt forced.

i met debbie gibson back in 1997 at a learning annex class in san francisco. i asked her regarding shock your mama, she said the label did put pressure on her, to be sexier, and more agressive....she said sitting at the board table of her label was very excruciating.
