His vocal phrasing was unique , and a voice smooth and fluid, like singing in fine oil.

To Michael Rose and MSPeachy51...actually, MsPeachy51 is correct. Elvis was a BIG fan of Dean Martin! Evidence A: When Dean's daughter, Deanna, was introduced to Elvis, Elvis said her dad was "The King of Cool." Evidence B: When Sam Phillips first asked Elvis to sing some songs he knew, the selections contained an inordinate number of Dean Martin recordings. Evidence C: Elvis did record a number of song in Martin's lazy, drawling style, such as "Welcome to my World" and "My Heart Cries For You," songs Martin had recorded prior to the Presley versions. Arthur "Big Boy" Crudup wasn't the only influence on Elvis!

No one today come's close to this kind of talent. We are stuck with the likes, of Michael Buble, who is a pretty good singer, however not in the same league of Dean.

Nice fireplace, & the bagpipe gag was great! I was way too young to appreciate this show when I watched it back then.

When he finally gets down to the singing, he was, as usual, superb.

To Ms. Peachy51, there is nothing that Dean Martin ever did that could have reminded you of Elvis !
