many of dead can dance's songs have origins in other works, and i think we need time to fully appreciate where they are coming from. most say black sun is about prometheus or atheism but i don't agree. i think the song is an allusion to arthur rimbaud's poem 'a season in hell', where man is torn by and driven by both holiness and unholiness. its an irrational tale of human nature.
