Sounds good but the toms have a bit too much overtone going on.

I'm going to buy them too with ekits, but I might have the sae proble with the hammer, so i need to know how to resolve it!

Danny Vargas

how would you resolve this problem? should change the hammer???

Hey man, I see you have an Axis AL-2 with EKits... Did you have to order a custom hammer from Axis to avoid the hammer beating in the left pedal bracket? Or did you modify the pedal/hammer yourself? I should recieve my ekits in a week or two, can't wait to set them up on my Alesis DM5, but I still might need to change the hammer...

For what ive heard metal drummers also like to play other styles of music and not sampling

hangfromynape

wouldn't when they are playing and not recording it come down to reaction of a head and not a pad?

some people like to use direct samples from the module, others like to use the sample from the module and as well their acoustic bass drum sound both tracks are mixed and you got a better sound of the bass drums! so yes it makes a difference but it depends on the drummer, its like if you were using a sub kick, but instead of the subkick you got the module sample, there are many many ways to come up with a great bass drum sound you just gotta make some experiments!

In most (extreme) metal recordings, the acoustic sound is actually mixed up with trigger sound to achieve the best possible audible quality. Now you have your answer !

I still do all of my simple grind with Beatcraft, just for the fuck of it. If you get some good external samples you can make it sound 'ok'.

Dude loving this. Do u mind sharing your Alesis DmPro settings? I have the Ekits and Dm5 and i cant get the settings right i keep getting double hits. And also where is the VDL on your Axis pedals? GREAT STUFF MAN

That was Ingested's drummer. I could say you're right, but there are still drummers who leave most of their stuff in tact and don't just sample in everything after the fact.

When i used beatcraft, i just loaded in external samples and edited velocities. Since then, i have switched to SSD :)

The song you can hear in the beginning and at the end of the video is a Septycal Gorge raw recording of a new song to be published this year on the new album :)

It's a matter of EQ. Beatcraft is very simple to program but it's quite obsolete, I mean there are tons of stuff that you can not do such as time changes in the same track and it suck. Anyway if you check a little the EQ you can set the sound that you like and set a different volume in the single beats to make it more "human". That's how I programmed this. :) - Los
