David Whitfield will live in the heart of millions for ever. I know it's been said before but they really don't make any like this again.

For those of us who remember David, now know that we were in happier times, Time Marches On, remember that one at the Flicks up in the Gods for sixpence. Tubs of vanilla 4pence, choc ice sixpence, froffy coffee sixpence, and my pocket money was a shilling a week, good old Mum, ahhhh memories. Thank you David and thank you for uploading

He was a good friend of my Auntie and Uncle who had a club on the weir, Hessle, East Yorkshire, he visited often, and when we came from South Yorkshire to stay and he was there, wonderful, wonderful times, sat on his knee while he sang to me aged about 5-6 I will never forget.

I am 57 and my grandma was a great admirer of David Whitfield. She taught me this song and I actually managed to play it on the piano accordeon.

When David Whitfield was singing, real talent was needed in the music business. Now, lack of talent need not hold performers back. The late Whitney Houston is an example of what I mean. Her voice was something between a shriek, scream and shout. She was black, okay, not a problem. But 'whiting' up for a show, give me a break. The makers of skin lighteners need to be punished.
