Beautiful voice, beautiful song thanks so much for posting it. David was in the navy. In the early 60's David performed for the Royal Canadian Navy in Halifax Nova Scotia. I was fortunate enough to share a few "wets" with David and swapped a few war stories as well. It was a night to remember. A great man that passed away too early in life, but his music lives on.

Its lovely for me to read the wonderful comments about David from other fans, and how much he meant to people.I would like to corrrect one point, David was in the Navy not the R A F.

My elder sister (God bless & keep Her, RIP Pat) was simply a fanatic & truly loved David Whitfield so I of course heard him so much as she bought all of his records & listened to them all the time, I therefore became a sort of "distant" fan. She even had a boyfriend from the RAF, in which of couse David Whitfield served.Terrific good memories. Thank you.

Thank you for this. Although I have been a lifelong fan of David (I first saw him in concert in the early '50's), I have never heard this before. i grew up on recordings of this beautiful song by Richard Tauber and Caruso and I do think that David's rendition is as enjoyable as those two "Greats"
