The sad part is that nobody knows what songs David had recorded for the project. Because of his extensive library, David was able to perform while being blocked from the studio and he continued to write as well. Bob wasn't as fortunate. I'll check out the video tomorrow.

well, send down the rain would have been interesting. but the good news is that david has a new project due this year. there's a clip from a concert last september of a song to come from that new album. it's called "Grace Of You" here on youtube.

Odyssey was supposed to be a way for David to display his work (past & present) to the owners of Sparrow records (I think that was the label he released on). I was told that the buyout of Christian labels was mostly due to the popularity of crossover hits by Michael W. Smith "I Will Be Here For You"" and Amy Grant "Baby Baby". When the new owners found out that Christian releases do not generate as much profit as secular, the axe fell on projects by Bob Carlisle, David and others.

this was the first track and only new one from odyssey, which was a best of project. i wish send down the rain wasn't scrapped.

i knew of send down the rain and wished it wasn't scrapped. it was really 7 years between odyssey and there i go again. and the next album is due out sometime this year. there's an upload of a new song called "grace of you" . it was from a live concert in september of last year.

"Odyssey" wasn't intended to be a major release for David. The album came out around the time that secular record labels started to buy up Christian labels. David had a brand new album "Send Down the Rain" in the works. As I understand it, the new label owners cancelled the project (and others) and blocked David (and other artists) from fleeing to other labels. Thus the large time gap between "Odyssey" & "There I Go Again"

I would love to learn piano/keyboards from David Meece, Michael W. Smith and John Lawry of Petra. They are all so talented as musicians.

afrikitty and catcrazy632, i absolutely agree with both of you. david, aqmong other christian artists, there are songs they have i swear they know who i am when they wrote them. they know my difficult life. i know that's not the case, but you get the idea. i can explain further if one of you pm's me here. God has used christian music to reach me in my darkest hours. All praise be to Him on the throne!

You know catcrazy632, it's as if David Meece is talking about me in this song. When I look back on the days before I got saved, the lyrics he sings make so much sense: "Looking back on all the roads I've known The echos of the songs I've sung Looking back there's a thread of love and grace Connecting each line and space I've known And all the years I thought were lost On empty searching without clues Now trace a journey to the highest truth" I know I was His all along. Chosen in Christ!

Just beautiful. It's so easy to forget those promises of God, when so many preachers are preaching law, law, law at the poor beleaguered Christian today. They're so worried about being holy, that they forget to establish the Christian in the things Christ has DONE FOR THEM. There's nothing wrong with striving to be holy in Christ, but you cannot do it unless you are standing on those promises. "There is now no more condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus..." (Romans 8:1)

great to see someone put this track up, one of his greatest songs, hidden at the end of the album from memory.
