Man, this album kicks ass. Might even be up there with EE&S as his best solo work (I can never decide which is better). It should have gone platinum, at least, but sadly grunge started taking over around 1991 and his previous album Skyscraper, while it wasn't a dud at all, had more of a mixed reception at the time. Unfortunately, this album is more of a "what if?" than anything? What if it came out instead of Skyscraper? Or what if it came out in 1989, and not 1991? DLR's solo career probably has enough flavor for a few more years, but I still think the VH reunion happens eventually. But yeah, bad timing on its release and Skyscraper's lukewarm reception at best probably prevents ALAE from going at least platinum. Both factors hindered ALAE's success and killed his next album dead in the water before it was released.
