That's odd, the dvd i have of it says nothing about turner, footage is used constantly in third party videos and there seems to be no consequence. If it is copyrighted, no one has enforced this in the least.

This would appear to be the trailer for the movie... My music copyright is correct but who is Alana Ferreira? He isn't the Director or the Composer so plainly shouldn't be claiming copyright on our work. Can he please amend

Ferreira, I believe, is claiming ownership in the collection of images, in the sense that he arranged the order of the images and how they relate to the song. Whether his use of the song and the movie is authorized, or whether it would have a vaild fair use defense, I do not know. Also, I couldn't find a copyright registration for this song for Knopfler- it is possible that he does not own it, especially as we do not know the arrangements under which he made it.

Furthermore, Laser Mission is not in the public Domain, and will not be until the 2060's, According to the copyright office, it is registered to Turner Home Entertainment. Likely. Either the owners are not enforcing their copyright, or they have licensed it to people like Riff Trax and the other major groups who have used it. Likely both.

Dyli, It;s been a long time since you posted this, but to answer your question, no. The song and the movie have separate copyrights. If the movie was in the public domain, the only use of that song that is in the public domain is the specific usage of it in the movie- therefore, you could theoretically post a clip of the movie where the song plays, but you could not post the song itself ripped from the movie.
