BS's voice is mediocre at best and he butchered this song. Bad choice David Foster, bad choice.

She's faced the hardest times you could imagineAnd many times her eyes fought back the tearsAnd when her youthful world was about to fall inEach time her slender shoulders bore the weight of all her fearsAnd a sorrow no one hearsStill rings in midnight silence, in her earsLet her cry, for she's a ladyLet her dream, she's a childLet the rain fall down upon herShe's a free and gentle flower growing wildAnd if by chance that I should hold herLet me hold her for a timeAnd if allowed just one possessionI would take her in my arms, to be mineBe careful how you touch her, she'll awakenAs sleep's the only freedom that she knowsAnd when you walk into her eyes, you won't believeThe way she's always paying for a debt she never owesAnd a silent wind still blowsThat only she can hear, so she goesLet her cry, for she's a ladyLet her dream, she's a childLet the rain fall down upon herShe's a free and gentle flower, growing wildLet her cry, oh, she's a ladyLet her dream, 'cause she's a childLet the rain fall down upon herShe's a free and gentle flower growing wildShe's a flower growing wild, she's a flower growing wild

I like both versions. Guess I'm not gonna fit in to the 'can only like one', comment crowd.

Love you Blake and had it started out Country it would have stayed country. But I have to stick with Skylark and Newbirth You did a great country version and that was wonderful good job but I have to stick with the original on this one handsome

This wasn't bad but hats off to Mr. Foster for writing an outstanding and meaningful song but of all of the versions I've heard of this song, including the original, New Birth's version shines the most. They bring that extra something to the beauty it already posesesses.

Makes it sound like a Jimmy Webb song. Not a bad thing, but the original is a devastating classic with a soul tilt.

Although I am a country fan...there are certain songs that should never be used for that venue...this tune is one of them. Just something about the hard "R"s and southern accent that causes this tune to degrade a bit. Sorry bubba...this is a no go for me.

He sounds a little like Ronnie Milsap on this tune. Not bad, really, but those of us who grew up with the original will surely agree this version just has no soul at all.

Blake is ok on his songs. But if you go listen to the Skylark version, you can tell it really loses the soul that the song was born with when Blake sings it. I'm not sure why he didn't put more heart into it. Do yourself a favor and play it's original version and you'll see what I'm saying.
