I respect DC as a vocalist and frontman - seen him many times over the years - but he's frankly talking bollocks here. Mistreated is a Blackmore riff if ever there was one! It had been written, as far as I recall from interviews in Sounds at the time, even before Gillan left.

If I recall correctly Blackmore had already written the music to Mistreated at least a couple of years before Coverdale joined the band. The song was actually considered for the Machine Head album.
