The problem inherent with Barrett emulators (many of whom, like Bowie, have forged 'careers' out of it), is that Barretts likeness is only ever assumed in a superficial and aesthetic sense - a conscious self-affecting that Barrett himself never set about achieving through mere stylising. The difference is that Barrett was authentically himself, and in a popular culture setting that in itself was and is unique. Bowie et al are just performers, or shall we say, pretenders...9 years ago
